  The killing of Job's family...

  i'm having a conversation with a couple of people in my office as i type this.

  i'm asking the question "why did god allow satan to kill job's family?

  " i told them that to say he did it to prove job's faithfullness and that he got even more in return for his faithfulness is not a good enough answer.

  i've seen how some are so burdened by the fact that they were witnesses, that literally, every day is a struggle.

  I use to live next to a j-dub family. 4 out of 6 were on depression medication. I use to wonder how a family who were very very active witnesses could be so depressed. I would get depressed every saturday morning when I looked out my window and saw them going out in f.s. and I was not. Yet here they were doing what they were "supposed" to do. I was glad when they moved although they were nice.

  what are some stupid analogies that you here dubs use all the time to explain their faulty, destructing teachings?

  Five meetings = 5 stepping stones to cross a river. If you skip one you might fall in to the worldy river. You might have avoided that bad thing that happened if you were at the meeting.

  I keep JWD up at work all day. I frequent this site throughout the day. When I get home at night, the last thing I want to do is look at a computer screen. I quess what I'm asking is does anyone else here have a job? ;) It just seems that thier are a lot of the same people signed on about the same time I am and I was just wondering if they too are at work or at home?

  What was your most humiliating point of being a jw?

  mine was when my mom signed me up to sit at a table at our local university.

  we had to sit there and talk to students as they passed by our table.

  a few people came up to start a conversation and i didn't even know what they were talking about.

  Anyone know about the martial arts?

  my 11 year-old is getting picked on at school.

  he is not cut out for competitive sports and not interested.

  i've pushed my jw mindset aside and am considering letting him take a martial arts class (gasp).

  Penny, many have said that the fight usually ends up on the ground. Like the ultimate fighting crap on tv. Thats true when you are playing by the same rules. When your fighting to defend yourself from bodily harm or worse, the only one that should end up on the ground is your opponent. If your child is taught well he should be able to accomplish this swift and with as much damage to his opponent as his opponent wishes to take. Sometimes just a little jab to the nose will get the point across. I tell my children that the sooner you establish to the bullies as well as the spectators that your not going to be a soft target the better.
